As Death Draws Near ( A Lady Darby Mystery) Anna Lee Huber. I live in lower michigan, and I have a dog man story. As an adult reader, I wouldn’t say that I was terrified by this story – but it was certainly a chilling tale – and a fantastic mystery / horror story for younger readers and definitely worth a read. They were rushed to the hospital and Greg The Dogs body was dying and so was Officer Knights head. This story is a gripping and a thrilling read – each turn of the page takes us one step closer to discovering the supernatural truth behind the village mysteries and odd Halloween traditions. Aveline, with the help of her new-found friends, Aunt and a local woman begins to uncover the sinister truth behind the book and its previous owner. At the back of this book, there contains a sinister mystery of a hidden story and a missing girl from years prior. Hidden away in the depths of this book store, she finds a mysterious anthology of ghost stories – all set in her Aunt’s village. Forced to stay with her aunt in a desolate wintery Cornish village whilst her mum is away visiting Aveline’s poorly grandmother, Aveline entertains herself by visiting the local bookstore – a hidden treasure in this otherwise dreary coastal village. Aveline is a normal girl…with an obsession for ghost stories.
